April 21 is Justin time for Malaysian ‘Beliebers’

PETALING JAYA: It’s confirmed, Beliebers: your teen idol Justin Bieber is scheduled to perform at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur on April 21.

Jason Lo, chief executive officer of TuneTalk, the concert sponsor, yesterday confirmed the buzz by announcing on Twitter: “Yay! @TuneTalk presents Justin Bieber live in KL on 21st April 2011! Our subscribers get 1st dibs on tickets next sat at Bsar Village2!”

Mohamed Zahid Yon, chief executive officer of Fat Boys Records, the event’s local organiser, said ticket sales would start on Saturday at Bangsar Village 2 in Kuala Lumpur.

“It is going to be a two-day event. The first day is for TuneTalk customers. Those who want to sign up on that day will also be able to buy the tickets. The second day is open to the public,” Mohamed Zahid said.

Tickets are priced at RM98, RM188, RM288, RM358 and RM498.

Bieber, 16, is a Canadian pop/R&B singer whose meteoric rise to fame is a fabled tale of YouTube to pop stardom.

The first of his two-part debut album My World was released on Nov 17 in 2009. My World 2.0 (or My Worlds in Asia, distributed by Universal Music) followed four months later.

He has chalked up a string of hit songs including Baby, One Time,Somebody to Love, One Less Lonely Girl, Love Me, Never Let You Goand Favourite Girl.

Bieber has been nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for My World 2.0 at next month’s Grammy Awards.
